A former Foodstuffs New Zealand Senior Executive with strong professional governance experience – Rob Chemaly – has been appointed as Chairman of the UMFHA board.
Currently an active Director and Executive Chair, his experience in professional governance has deep roots in retail/wholesale and the fast-moving consumer goods sectors.
Over a period of 15 years, Rob held several influential leadership positions at Foodstuffs New Zealand which is the country’s largest retailer and national distribution market leader. During that time, he assisted the organisation with delivering significant change and helped to establish it as a world class organisation with a sustainable team culture.
Rob is also currently the Executive Chair of Foodfirst Limited, which is a nationwide co- operative in the food service industry.
His key areas of strength include: strategic and thought leadership; commercial management; financial acumen; indepth retail knowledge; strong local and overseas networks; problem solving, planning and decision making; and change management.
Rob is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
In his spare time, Rob loves golf, is a single figure handicap golfer and a past captain of the Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club. He has a wife of close to 40 years of marriage, three children and five grandchildren.
